Death toll from earthquakes in Turkey rises to 16,170

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the death toll from earthquakes in Turkey has risen to 16,170. He said this on Thursday during a speech in Osmaniye province.

“There were devastating earthquakes in our country on Monday. There has been a lot of destruction. I regret to report that our death toll was 16,170. 64,194 people were affected. 6,444 buildings were destroyed,” he said. The president added that all houses will be rebuilt within a year.
