British surgeons have performed the first surgery using Apple Vision Pro
The first spinal surgery using Apple’s Vision Pro took place at the private Cromwell Hospital in London. However, the gadget was used not by the surgeons themselves, but by a nurse assisting them. She used it to prepare, monitor the details of the procedure and select the right instruments.
The use of Vision Pro headsets could revolutionize medicine. During the London operation, the gadget used software from American software company eXeX. It allows medical staff to access surgical equipment and procedural manuals in the operating room holographically and touchlessly.
Incredibly importantly, the software on offer helps to evaluate how well the surgery and each stage of the procedure was performed. Lead nurse at the London Independent Hospital, Suvi Verho, says the headset significantly reduces the dependence of surgical success on the ‘human factor’ and gives assistants confidence. This high-tech tool allows them to do a complex job better.
Renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Robert Masson of Orlando used Vision Pro in his work just 3 days after its release. He stated that with the addition of this gadget to the physician’s arsenal, surgical teams have received excellent visual holographic guidance and maps that improve visual-spatial and temporal orientation. The Vision Pro device is currently being tested in various medical fields.
