Bill Gates invests $12 million in startup to reduce methane emissions from animals
Microsoft founder Bill Gates has invested in Australian startup Rumin8, which has decided to achieve a reduction of methane emitted by cows into the atmosphere.
Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy Ventures took part in the second round of funding for the $12 million project. The Australian company is developing livestock feed additives made from synthetically replicated bromoform, an active ingredient found in red algae.
In addition to Gates, such major businessmen as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg are investing in Breakthrough Energy.
