Biden: This is an unusual election, and the stakes for America couldn’t be higher
President Joe Biden issued a statement on Nikki Haley’s announcement that she is dropping out of the race for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination, saying there is “room” for her supporters in his campaign.
“Donald Trump has made it clear that he doesn’t want Nikki Haley supporters. I want to make it clear that there is a place for them in my campaign,” Biden said in a statement released Wednesday. – I know we disagree on many things. But on the fundamental issues of preserving American democracy, upholding the rule of law, treating each other with decency, dignity and respect, preserving NATO and standing up to America’s adversaries, I hope and believe we can find common ground.”
Biden said, “In today’s Republican Party, where so few people dare to speak the truth about Donald Trump, Nikki Haley was willing to speak the truth about Trump: about the chaos that always follows him, about his inability to distinguish right from wrong, about his cowardice to Vladimir Putin.”
“We all know this is an extraordinary election,” the president’s statement emphasized. – And the stakes couldn’t be higher for America. I know that Democrats, Republicans and independents disagree on many issues and hold strong convictions. That’s a good thing. That’s what America stands for. But I also know something else: what Democrats, Republicans and independents have in common is a love of America.”
