Biden set a goal to end hunger in the U.S. by 2030

U.S. President Joe Biden has set a goal to end hunger and reduce nutrition-related disease in the United States by 2030.

He said this as he opened the first conference on hunger at the White House in 50 years.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, one in 10 American families faces food insecurity problems.

“Just last week I spoke at the United Nations about the commitments we are making to address food insecurity around the world,” Biden said. – “Because in any country and in any state of our country, no matter what else separates us, if a parent can’t feed a child, nothing else matters to that parent.

Hunger is a global phenomenon, but the U.S. is hardly one of the most affected countries. According to the Global Food Security Index, the U.S. ranks 13th in food security.

On Wednesday, Biden announced a raft of federal government measures, as well as $8 billion in public and private sector commitments. Among them are plans to expand free school meal programs and government food benefits for children and families.
