The aftermath of Hurricane Ian in the United States and Cuba

Storm Ian reached the southwest coast of Florida on the afternoon of September 28. At its maximum intensity, Ian was described as a category four out of five hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale, with wind gusts of up to 70 m/s. Then it weakened to the third and then to the second category.

The hurricane left 2.6 million consumers in Florida without electricity, flooded homes, destroyed boats and broken road signs. There is a state of emergency on the territory of the state now. According to the forecasts of meteorologists, the hurricane will rage in the USA until 6 October.

The elements also passed over the west of Cuba. There is no power supply on most of the territory of the country because of the hurricane. Two people from the province of Pinar del Rio were killed during the hurricane. The region has suffered the most: the destruction of buildings was recorded, also there was damage to tobacco plantations.
