U.S. President Joe Biden commented on the imposition of new U.S. sanctions against Cuba.
“Today my administration is imposing new sanctions targeting those elements of the Cuban regime responsible for the current crackdown on protests in the country. This is just the beginning. The U.S. will continue to impose restrictive measures against those responsible for the oppression of the Cuban people,” reads the statement on the White House website.
Biden clarified that the U.S. considers the head of the Cuban military and a detachment of the Cuban Interior Ministry “responsible for the suppression.
