Biden and Merkel discuss issues humanitarian aid to Afghans
U.S. President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed the need for coordination in providing humanitarian aid to Afghans during a telephone conversation on Wednesday. This was said in a statement released by the White House after the talks.
“They praised the continuing efforts of their troops and civilians who are working closely in Kabul to evacuate their citizens, vulnerable Afghans and courageous Afghan citizens who have worked tirelessly for the past 20 years to provide security, foster peace and help develop the Afghan people.
They discussed the need for close coordination to provide humanitarian aid to vulnerable Afghans in the country, as well as the support of neighboring nations, and agreed to continue planning for this work at the upcoming virtual G7 partners meeting,” the statement said.
