Biden administration intends to lower prescription drug prices
U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration intends to push for lower prescription drug prices, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
The White House plans to promote the passage of a bill aimed at the same, and the developed plan, which will be presented on Thursday.
The plan, in addition to supporting a bill drafted by Democratic lawmakers, proposes empowering federal authorities to discuss drug pricing under the national Medicare health insurance program and the ability to seek drug cost reductions in the private health care sector as well.
“The Biden-Harris administration remains committed to making access to health care as open as possible for American families, and this plan represents the primary route by which we will achieve that,” said U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra. – By negotiation, competition, and innovation in health care, we will push for fair pricing and we will advocate for access to health care.”
