Anthony Fauci Stated Third Dose Improves Effectiveness of Covid Vaccines
Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said that a third dose of the coronavirus vaccine increases the body’s protective barriers against almost all variants of the infection by a factor of ten. The scientist said so in a video message at the 26th National Congress of the Community of General Scientific Medicine, held in Florence.
Fifteen days after administering the third dose of the drug from the American company Moderna, protective barriers increased: 23 times against the first mutation of the original strain, 32 times against the South African variant and 44 times against the Brazilian variant. Similar data are available for a vaccine from the U.S.-German Pfizer consortium, BioNTech. When a booster dose is administered, the antibody titer increases significantly in both the elderly and the young.
Anthony Fauci also stated that when the delta strain is more contagious and has a higher viral load, the effectiveness of the vaccine decreases. This is reflected in a decrease from 91% to 81% protection against severe forms of coronavirus-induced disease for Moderna and from 85% to 75% for Pfizer.
