Samsung has released a TV so expensive that its buyers will get another $8,000 TV as a gift
Samsung has launched a promotion where you can buy a titanic 114-inch Micro LED TV for $132,630 and get a bonus 85-inch Neo QLED TV for $8000. Plus a $4,000 JBL L100 MK2 speaker and a $2200 voucher for a stay at the Signiel Seoul Hotel in South Korea.
Samsung first introduced Micro LED technology at CES 2018 in the form of a 146-inch modular TV with the distinctive name “The Wall.” Then there was a more practical version with a diagonal of 75 inches, a little later the line was replenished with variants for 89 and 110 inches. There is a model with a diagonal of 136 inches at a price of $300 thousand, but it is not in demand just because of the prohibitive price. Consumers simply do not see the point in spending so much.
Micro LED is constructively an analog of OLED-display, but it is better than it by all parameters. These are brighter colors, more efficient power consumption, shorter response time and improved brightness. Micro LEDs are inorganic in nature, and therefore they do not have the problem of degradation as they are used. Consequently, the lifespan of such screens is longer, but the payback leaves much to be desired. There are not many tasks in the world where such monitors could become indispensable, and therefore the profitability of the product is not great.
What is even worse for Samsung, it is on the heels of LG, which has released its own similar monitor. This forces the company to offer even greater discounts and bonuses when buying the TV – even though it is still sold only in South Korea.
