A propane train derailed and overturned in Florida

Several wagons from a propane train derailed and overturned Tuesday in Florida’s Manatee County. According to the South Manatee Area Fire Department, one of the overturned wagons contains about 35,650 gallons of propane. As of 12:00 p.m. local time, thermal imagery shows no leaks.

No evacuation orders have been issued at this time. There is no information yet about which company owns the train.

This is not the first case in the United States. On 3 February in Ohio about 50 carriages of Norfolk Southern Company train which was transporting chemicals derailed. A fire broke out as a result. Some cars on the train contained hazardous materials, particularly toxic vinyl chloride. On February 26, another freight train of the same transportation company derailed in North Carolina.
