Arizona resident wanted for threatening to assassinate Trump

An Arizona resident is wanted after threatening to kill former President Donald Trump via social media, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, is in Cochise County visiting the U.S. border with Mexico as part of his campaign.

A Wisconsin arrest warrant has been issued for 66-year-old Ronald Lee Seawood, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

“No, I haven’t heard of that, but it doesn’t surprise me, and the reason is because I want to do bad things for bad people”, Trump said when asked about the threat against him in Arizona.

This is the latest in a series of threats against candidates ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

In early August, a Virginia resident was accused of making threats against Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump’s Democratic rival, and in December, a New Hampshire man was arrested for threatening to kill Republican presidential candidates.

In July, Trump was shot in the ear during an assassination attempt that left two people wounded and one person dead.

After the shooting, the US Secret Service was widely criticized. This led to the resignation of the head of this federal service.

Despite this and the new threats, Trump said he had “great respect” for the Secret Service and “the work they do,” adding that they had made mistakes that they would learn from.
