Biden declares state of emergency in Puerto Rico due to storm Fiona

U.S. President Joe Biden on Sunday signed an executive order declaring an emergency in Puerto Rico due to Tropical Storm Fiona and ordered federal aid to the authorities of this U.S.-affiliated nation.

“President Joseph Biden today declared an emergency in Puerto Rico and ordered federal assistance to supplement local efforts to address emergency conditions caused by Tropical Storm Fiona,” according to a document signed by the U.S. leader and released by the White House press office. Assistance will be provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Office of Emergency Management of the country.

That in the Atlantic Ocean has formed a tropical storm “Fiona”, the U.S. National Hurricane Center reported September 15.
