Justin Bieber said he was paralyzed in half of his face

Half of Justin Bieber’s face is paralyzed due to an illness. Bieber announced this on his Instagram page.

“I have Ramsay Hunt syndrome, and it’s because of a virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and facial nerves,” Bieber said in a posted video, pointing to the immobile half of his face.

Bieber said he was counting on the understanding of fans upset by the cancellation of his concerts. The singer hopes that in time, his face will return to its former state and he will be able to perform again.

Ramsey Hunt syndrome is a herpetic lesion of part of the facial nerve. One of the symptoms of the disease is paralysis of part of the face. Recovery is done with medication and physical therapy.
