More than 100 cars were involved in accidents in Illinois because of snowfall
Several accidents involving more than 100 cars occurred in Illinois. This was reported by the local police on Twitter.
Among the main causes of accidents are called poor visibility on the road, caused by heavy snowfall across the state. Police did not specify whether there were any injuries among those involved in the accident.
A 30-kilometer stretch of the I-39 freeway will also be restricted to travel in the state due to bad weather conditions.
A section of the highway from Normal to Minonka will be closed for about 12 hours due to multiple crashes involving more than 100 vehicles.
Illinois police have been warning local drivers of deteriorating weather conditions since February 17.
