Queen Elizabeth Celebrates Platinum Jubilee

Prince Charles congratulated Queen Elizabeth on the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne. He stressed that the anniversary was an opportunity for the country to come together.

Prince Charles, in a statement, said, “We are deeply conscious of the honor expressed by my mother’s wish.” Charles noted that in serving the queen and the nation, “my dear wife has always been my support.”

This is the first ever Platinum Jubilee celebrated by a British monarch.

The queen released a statement expressing her hope that the prince’s second wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles, will become, Queen Consort after Charles becomes king.
