More than 1.13 million cases of COVID-19 detected in the U.S. in 24 hours

More than 1.13 million cases of the coronavirus were detected in the United States on Monday, January 10. According to Reuters, this is the highest daily increase of any country in the world since the pandemic began.

According to Reuters, not all states in the country have had time to release data on the past 24 hours of infection, and the final figure is likely to be even higher. The previous record was set on Jan. 4, when U.S. health officials detected more than 1 million cases of the coronavirus-induced disease in a 24-hour period when the Omicron strain was spreading. Prior to that, a record figure was recorded on the last day of December, when experts found about 590 thousand cases of infection with coronavirus.

In addition, according to the agency’s statistics, the number of hospitalized with covid reached 132,646, beating last January’s record of 132,051 patients. The data may not reflect the real situation, as many Americans test for coronavirus at home and do not report the results to the leading statistics agencies.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) on Jan. 10, the United States has the most confirmed cases of coronavirus infection with 59,138,083. India followed with 35,707,727, Brazil 22,499,525, Britain 14,475,196 and France 11,823,789.
