Sony recently unveiled many interesting new products during the CES 2022 exhibition. However, all indications are that the Japanese company’s inventions do not end there. The company has filed another application with the patent office.

It’s no news that Sony is paying a lot of attention to the development of virtual reality hardware. The company aims to make the digital world as deep as possible. It has become known that Sony has filed an application to the patent office for a 3D scanner. It is designed to help bring real objects into virtual reality.

It is not yet known what exactly this technology will be used for. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the use of models to create VR games. This could be directly related to the recent PlayStation VR2 presentation. Of course, technology can definitely be used outside of games. There is more and more talk about creating a metaworld, and such a 3D scanner could definitely facilitate the process of designing a virtual world.

Sony has not yet received a patent, so consumers cannot expect to use the device in the process of creating the latest products. The information received shows that the task of the device would be to generate a virtual object, define its attributes and functionality and apply it to a simulation/video game.
