Zelensky asked the U.S. Congress to supply S-300 missile systems as an alternative to the no-fly zone
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky called on the U.S. Congress to enforce a no-fly zone over Ukraine, or to supply it with S-300 missile launchers, other air defense systems, and warplanes as an alternative option.
“Is it too much to ask? The creation of a no-fly zone. Is that too much for us?” – Zelensky said, addressing members of both houses of Congress via video link. “If it’s too much and we have no right to ask for it, here’s an alternative: you know what kind of defensive systems we need – the S-300,” he said.
“You know how much depends on the ability to use aircraft on the battlefield, powerful aviation must protect our people, our freedom, our land,” Zelensky argued. “Planes that will help Ukraine and Europe, and you know they are there and you possess them, but they are on the ground, not in the Ukrainian sky,” he stated.
