YouTube has blocked songs by Adele, Bob Dylan and Nirvana in the US

YouTube has made videos of some artists, including Adele, Britney Spears, Kendrick Lamar, Bob Dylan, Kanye West, Burna Boy, Nirvana and Green Day, unavailable for viewing in the United States.

The decision was made because of the service’s legal dispute with the Society for the Protection of the Copyrights of European Music Authors and Composers (SESAC).

SESAC extension of the existing agreement, but to agree a new deal before the expiration of the old parties “failed”, so the content, the publication of which is regulated by SESAC, became unavailable in the United States.

SESAC has been operating since 1930. The organization is engaged in copyright protection and currently licenses the placement in public access of more than 1.5 million songs on behalf of more than 15 thousand performers, composers and music publishers. In 2017, the society was bought out by private equity firm Blackstone.
