Unusual road accessory Softtop protects cyclists from rain and slush
The German company RainRider has become concerned about protecting cyclists when riding in the rain. This mode of transport in Europe has been competing with cars for a long time, but it lacks even basic protection from the weather. The Softtop product should partly solve this problem.
The Softtop is a kind of cover made of polyester fabric on an aluminum folding frame, which is attached to the front of the bike. It completely covers the rider in the front, partially on the sides and on top. Such protection will not protect in a downpour or snowfall, but it is good against splashing from puddles, prevents raindrops hitting the face and impair vision.
Softtop weighs only 1.5 kg, when unfolded it measures 215 cm by 40 cm and when folded it fits in a shoulder bag. Attached to the bike, the cover can be partly folded to cover the iron horse for parking time. The fabric has UV protection and mesh ventilation holes against fogging. The price of a single cover is $153.
