U.S. Authorities Ask Congress to Approve $10 Billion in Support for Ukraine

US President Joe Biden’s administration has asked the US Congress to approve the allocation of $10bn in aid to Ukraine. This was reported by The Washington Post.

The U.S. authorities plan to direct the requested funds to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, as well as to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, protect the country’s energy networks from failures, and further help other European allies.

In turn, the Biden administration is asking Congress for about $22.5 billion to fight the pandemic.

Initially, the Biden administration asked lawmakers to allocate about $6.4 billion to Ukraine. At the same time, the US president imposed sanctions against Russia and its key figures in connection with the military special operation in Ukraine. But later the requested amount was increased. For $10 billion, the U.S. plans to train the Ukrainian army, strengthen its cyber defense, provide food and other humanitarian aid.
