U.S. Air Force fighter plane crashed in South Korea

An American F-16 fighter jet crashed during a training flight in the Republic of Korea. This was reported by TV channel CNN with reference to the South Korean command of the U.S. Air Force.

The fighter crashed in the countryside near the U.S. Air Force base Osan, the closest U.S. air force base to the border with North Korea. The pilot ejected and was hospitalized; there were no casualties among the population.

The governor of Gyeonggi-do province, on whose territory the incident took place, said that the fire department had been sent to the crash site to eliminate the fire.

Causes of the fighter plane crash are still unknown. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
