Trump’s team spent nearly all of the money raised for the campaign on lawyers
Save America, an organization that collects and distributes funds for the election campaign of former U.S. President Donald Trump, spent almost all of the money raised on lawyers’ services.
Of the $105 million raised last year, $4 million remained in the organization’s account after it paid tens of millions in legal fees amid numerous proceedings against Trump. Trump’s team was able to raise $53.8 million in donations in the first half of 2023 and has already spent $57 million, with legal advice being the largest expense.
Trump’s team will set up a fund to raise money that will cover the costs arising from litigation against his supporters.
Trump has previously faced criminal charges for financial fraud in payments to former porn actress Stormy Daniels, as well as for mishandling classified documents. He could also face charges by September 1 for an alleged attempt on his part to influence the outcome of the 2020 presidential election in the state of Georgia.
The former president, who is going to fight again for the highest office in the upcoming elections next year, characterizes the charges against him as a purely political decision, inspired by the U.S. authorities headed by Joe Biden.
