Trump thinks the forgery case against him has no prospect in court

Former U.S. President Donald Trump believes that the Trump Organization financial fraud case in paying former porn actress Stormy Daniels has no prospect of going to trial.

“Prosecutor Alvin Bragg is trying to create a case that was never sent to trial and can’t really be heard in court,” he wrote Wednesday on his Truth Social network.

A grand jury in New York is looking into the possibility of indictments against Trump for allegedly forging Trump Organization financial documents in paying Daniels money.

Attorney Michael Cohen allegedly paid her $130,000 to keep her from spreading the word during the 2016 campaign about an alleged connection to Trump in 2006. Then the money spent, according to the Southern District of New York prosecutor’s office, was compensated to him at the expense of the Trump Organization, for which company documents were falsified.

Document forgery itself is considered a misdemeanor in the American legal system and usually does not carry a prison sentence, but if a grand jury decides that the falsification was done to cover up or commit another crime, Trump could face up to four years in prison.
