Trump says he intends to run even if found guilty

New York, April 12.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump will run for president in 2024 even if he is found guilty of falsifying business records.

“No, I would never get out of the race – it’s not my thing. I wouldn’t do it,” the former White House host said, responding to Carlson’s question about whether Trump would drop out of “the race if he was convicted in this case in New York.”

Trump also questioned whether current U.S. chief of staff Joe Biden would have a shot at seeking re-election in 2024. “I don’t think he can,” Trump stated, referring to Biden’s prospects for the nomination.

The U.S. presidential election is scheduled for November 2024. In November 2022, Trump announced he would enter the race for the nation’s highest office. Biden has made it clear since last fall that he expects to be re-elected.

On March 30, a grand jury in New York City voted to indict Trump in the Trump Organization financial forgery case over payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels. According to an indictment later released, Trump is charged with 34 counts of forgery of business records in order to commit another offense. As the media explain, each count carries a maximum penalty of up to four years in prison.
