Tourist underwater vehicle missing from Titanic wreck in the Atlantic
An underwater descent vehicle used to take tourists to the sinking site of the passenger liner Titanic has gone missing in the Atlantic Ocean. It was reported Monday by the Coast Guard in Boston.
A search and rescue operation has been launched. It is not yet clear how many people may have been in the submersible, communication with which has been lost.
Tickets for such excursions cost a significant amount of money. It is possible to get on board her bathyscaphe for $250 thousand.
The wreckage of Titanic, which sank April 10, 1912 after colliding with an iceberg, are located at a depth of 3.8 kilometers off the coast of Canadian Newfoundland. They were found in 1985. There were a total of 2,224 people aboard the liner, which made its maiden voyage from England’s Southampton to New York, 1,513 of whom died.
