The number of people infected with coronavirus in the world exceeds 475 million

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in the world has exceeded 475 million and the number of deaths – 6.1 million, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported on Friday.

As of March 25, the WHO reported 476,374,234 infected and 6,108,976 deaths. The number of those infected increased by 1,608,935 in 24 hours, with 5,143 deaths.

The WHO statistics include only officially confirmed information on infected and dead provided by the states. The milestone of 450 million infections was passed on March 10, 400 million on February 10, 350 million on January 25, 300 million on January 8, 250 million on November 9 last year, and 200 million on August 5.

The most confirmed cases of infection reported to the WHO were in the United States with 79,139,385. It was followed by India with 43,016,372, Brazil with 29,729,991, France with 23,903,547 and the United Kingdom with 20,613,821. The U.S. has the most fatalities with 967,905, followed by Brazil with 657,998 and India with 516,755.
