The FBI has opened a criminal investigation into the Baltimore bridge collapse
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has opened a criminal investigation into the collapse of a bridge in Baltimore after a container ship crashed into it.
The investigation, which is overseen by the Maryland State Attorney’s Office, intends, in particular, to find out whether the crew of the dry cargo ship left the port knowing that the vessel had serious systemic problems.
The US administration earlier said that it intends to bring to justice the parties responsible for the collapse of the bridge in Maryland. US President Joe Biden emphasized that the US administration will assist local authorities in rebuilding the facility, as well as supporting businesses affected by the incident. The federal authorities will cover all the costs of repairing the bridge, he assured.
