Taliban delegation meets American diplomats in Qatar

Amir Khan Mottaki, who was appointed by the Taliban to head the Afghan Foreign Ministry, held a meeting in Qatar with Ian McCarthy, who heads the Afghan desk at the U.S. Embassy in Doha. Afghan Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi said this on his Twitter page on Wednesday.

“Taking into account the outcome of previous bilateral contacts, both sides held detailed consultations and exchanged views on U.S.-Afghan relations and other issues,” the statement said.

The Taliban previously met with U.S. diplomats in Doha Oct. 9-12. According to Mottaki, during the dialogue, the sides discussed the provision of humanitarian aid to the Afghan people, the implementation of the Doha agreement between the United States and radicals, the need to open a new page in the relationship between Kabul and Washington while respecting the territorial integrity of Afghanistan and non-interference in its internal affairs.
