SpaceX launches Starshield satellite service for national security
Following the Starlink satellite Internet service, which covers many corners of the globe, the American company SpaceX introduced a new, more advanced service called Starshield, focused on the protection of national security. Governments of other countries will be able to use it during military operations.
The system will be based on the same satellite constellation as Starlink. The new service offers several interesting features to its potential customers. First of all, it is high-quality and reliable communication. In addition, Starshield will be able to monitor the Earth’s surface. In this case, the reliability of the encryption of collected and transmitted data will be much higher than that offered by the standard platform, focused on commercial use.
SpaceX says it is ready to equip satellites with payloads needed by customers. At the same time to reduce the number of ground terminals will be used laser lines of communication. Not much is known about the new project, but as a motivation the company mentions its extensive launch experience and cooperation with the U.S. Department of Defense.
