President Biden and First Lady to visit Children's National Hospital
President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will visit Children’s National Hospital in Washington on Friday to meet with child patients, their families and hospital staff, the White House said.
First ladies usually visit the hospital during the Christmas holidays. The tradition was started by President Harry Truman’s wife, Bess Truman, after World War II. Last year, President Biden became the first sitting president to visit Children’s National Hospital during the holidays.
The president and first lady will read Ezra Jack Keats’ “Snowy Day” with a group of patients, some of whom will participate in the event from their hospital rooms. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the book’s publication.
The Biden couple will also meet with children and their parents in the cardiology ward, the White House added.
