US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the DPRK conducted missile tests after the visit of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to Russia, where he met with President Vladimir Putin.
“You saw this happen too right after his visit to Russia. Right- right after he spoke with Vladimir Putin, he made the decision to take these actions. We’re still evaluating the appropriate response. But I want everyone in your audience to know we’re going to exhaust every diplomatic opportunity there is. I continue to invite our counterparts for negotiations. We still believe there is a path forward where Chairman Kim can denuclearize without resort to anything beyond diplomacy. We’re hopeful that we can achieve that,” said the Secretary of State to CBS.
According to Pompeo, the most severe sanctions continued to apply against Pyongyang.
Earlier it was reported that North Korea conducted a test launch of missiles in the direction of the Sea of Japan. The National Security Advisor of the United States John Bolton informed the American leader Donald Trump about what happened.
