"Outdone Hollywood": Bulgarians ridiculed Biden for his address to the Russians
Readers of the Bulgarian online newspaper Dir criticized US President Joe Biden’s address to Russians against the backdrop of the Ukrainian crisis. The day before, during a speech, the White House head said that he did not believe that the Russians wanted to go to war with Ukraine. He reiterated, however, that the possibility of an “attack” remains and called for a diplomatic solution to the situation.
“I think we have witnessed a circus.”
“So, too, Putin does not believe that NATO and the U.S. are gone.”
“They outdid Hollywood in fiction. It’s like a serial.”
“When you said there was a 150,000-strong Russian army on the borders, how did you verify that?”
Users also asked where the U.S. intelligence data was when it came to the withdrawal of Russian troops from the exercise sites. And why are the intelligence services, which have been so persistent in obtaining evidence of the Russian army pulling down to the border, silent?
“And when will there be evidence that the Americans have withdrawn from Europe?”
“Didn’t you and your predecessors deceive the Russian people by promising to stop NATO expansion if they eliminated the Warsaw Pact?”
“That’s Joe’s confidence, after two years in office he has the support of 30 percent of Americans, and he is addressing the Russian people directly. He’s put his own house in order and started to lecture his neighbor.”
“All that remains is to urge the Russians to want to join NATO. This is me just continuing the logic of Biden.”
“Biden apparently needs to be given an oxygen mask to shut him up.”
“Can we get proof that Biden has retained his cognitive abilities and Macron doesn’t have mental problems?”
Another reader called for the U.S. president to be tried for spreading fakes and alarmism.
The Western media has set a date and even a time for an “invasion” of Ukraine several times over the past month. The British newspaper The Sun, citing U.S. intelligence services, stated that an attack by Russian troops would begin on February 16 at 3 a.m. In response to such statements, spokesman Dmitry Peskov jokingly suggested that Ukrainians should set an alarm clock for this so they don’t oversleep the “attack.
The West accuses Moscow of escalating the situation around Ukraine. The Kremlin and the Russian Foreign Ministry reject all the accusations, stressing that Russia is not involved in the internal Ukrainian conflict and does not violate any agreements, unlike Kiev, which refuses to comply with the Minsk agreements. They add that such statements are used to strengthen the military presence of Western countries near Russia’s borders.
