New Chinese hybrids from BYD travel 1,300 miles without refueling

Two new hybrid cars Seal 06 and Qin L from BYD impress not only with their equipment and design, but also with an incredible range of 2,100 kilometers. During the testing of the new cars according to the Chinese CLTL methodology, their fuel consumption never exceeded 2.9 liters per 100 kilometers.

Both cars are based on the same platform and equipped with turbocharged 4-cylinder in-line diesel engines with an output of only 99 hp. In addition, they received and battery packs that provide in “all-electric” mode mileage of 80 or 120 kilometers. Their power plants can produce a torque of up to 126 N⋅m on the shaft when connected to an electric motor with an output of 125 kW.

As stated in BYD itself, high performance was achieved thanks to an innovative system of energy consumption with the support of artificial intelligence. It is noteworthy that the novelties will not be an expensive purchase – only 13,762 dollars per copy. Operation of such cars will also not lead to unnecessary expenses – any road can be traveled on them much cheaper.

The economy of new BYD hybrids deserves attention even though the Chinese CLTL methodology can “embellish” the indicators by a third compared to the American EPA. But even taking into account the differences, the real range on a single refueling/charging is an impressive 1,465 kilometers.
