Nearly 40 people injured in house fire in New York

At least 38 people were injured in a fire that broke out Saturday in a high-rise apartment building in downtown New York City, The New York Times reported.

The fire, which broke out on the 20th floor of a midtown Manhattan building in the morning, was caused by a battery fire in an electric bicycle. According to the preliminary version, one of the tenants was repairing such equipment at home.

Among the victims, two are in critical condition, five others are in serious condition, and the rest suffered minor injuries.
