Majority of Americans support mass deportation of illegal immigrants
More than half of Americans expressed support for the large-scale deportation of migrants illegally in the United States. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the research service The Harris Poll for the Axios portal.
51% of Americans who participated in the poll expressed support for the mass deportation of undocumented migrants in the US. The public would accept an expansion of legal immigration pathways if they saw tough measures being taken at the border.
The problem of illegal migration has been a point of contention between the southern states and the federal government for several years. The most tense situation has developed in the state of Texas, which is headed by the Republican governor Greg Abbott, who advocates tough measures to stop illegal migration and speaks out against the current policy of the American administration in this area.
