Lindsey Graham says U.S. media coverage of Trump is biased
The U.S. media do not objectively cover the activities of former U.S. President Donald Trump. This opinion was expressed by Senator Lindsey Graham (Republican from South Carolina), commenting on the results of U.S. Special Prosecutor John Durham’s investigation, who came to the conclusion that the FBI should not have started proceedings on the ties with Russia attributed to Trump.
“What did we learn from the Durham report? That The New York Times and The Washington Post won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for writing a lot of politically motivated nonsense. When it comes to reporting on Donald Trump, the mainstream media is dead.”
Earlier, Trump filed a lawsuit against the Pulitzer Prize Council, accusing the jury of defamation and lying to the American public over the 2018 award given to these outlets for their coverage of the investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
The Durham report was released Monday, listing facts that support the biased position of those involved in the investigation into Trump’s alleged ties to Russia. The FBI’s investigation ignored facts that were inconsistent with the allegations, the document noted.
In May 2019, then-U.S. Attorney General and Justice Secretary William Burr instructed Durham to review the reasons for the launch of the investigation into Russia’s alleged attempts to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, which was led by U.S. Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller.
Interference in the U.S. election process in 2016 was incriminated against Russia by U.S. intelligence agencies. Former U.S. FBI head and special prosecutor Robert Mueller spent nearly two years investigating these alleged attempts to influence. On April 18, 2019, the U.S. Justice Department released his final report, in which the special prosecutor admitted that he did not identify Trump’s collusion with Russia.
