Joe Biden's administration will direct more than $13 billion to reduce energy costs for the public

U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration will send more than $13 billion to help people pay their energy and heating bills, according to a White House statement released Wednesday.

It is noted that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will allocate $4.5 billion for the energy assistance program for low-income households. This will cover unpaid utility bills and support families with needed energy equipment repairs.

About $9 billion more to help low- and middle-income families will go to the Energy Department.

“Biden’s economic plan aims to reduce energy costs for American families so they can keep their homes warm in winter and cool in summer, especially as populations across the country struggle with extreme temperatures and variable weather due to climate change,” the document said.

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris will announce the new measures Wednesday in Boston.
