In The White House has a new pet, Willow the cat

In The White House, has a new pet, a two-year-old short-haired, gray-and-white cat named Willow. This was confirmed by Michael Larosa, the press secretary of the First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden.

The process of getting used to the new place is aided by the favorite toys Willow, named after Willow Grove, Jill Biden’s hometown in Pennsylvania, brought to the White House. That’s also where the cat itself is from.

In 2020, Larosa said, Willow interrupted a campaign speech by the then-presidential candidate’s wife, who was speaking at a farm in support of her husband. The cat jumped onto the stage where Jill was addressing voters and nearly disrupted the event. The farm owner saw that Jill liked the animal and gave it to her.

The president’s other pet is a German Shepherd puppy named Commander, who settled into the White House a month ago.

The Bidens originally moved into the Washington residence with their two dogs, a sheepdog named Champ and Major. The first one died in June 2021, and the second one never really fit in at the White House, since she was aggressive and even bit one of the guards. They tried to “rehabilitate” her, but to no avail, she attacked one of the visitors to the residence again. As a result, Meijor was sent to the Biden family home in Delaware under the supervision of their acquaintances.

The Washington Post pointed out that cats hadn’t been in the White House since George H.W. Bush, the 43rd president’s pet (India), left it in 2009.
