There are 238 million licensed drivers in the United States. In the face of rising fuel prices, gas station programs designed to save consumers money can come to the rescue.

For example, the independent Fuel Rewards loyalty program is available at Shell gas stations. It can be used to accumulate fuel bonuses earned in cents per gallon, and the next fill-up will cost less. The Instant Gold Subscription gives you a 5 cents per gallon discount on your first refueling. It stacks with any other bonuses. Fuel Rewards has dozens of national partners that allow you to use your credit card for purchases and earn cents per gallon. There’s also a meal rewards program and a host of promotional offers, such as T-Mobile Tuesdays, for gasoline rewards. Pay for your purchases online and earn at least 5 cents a gallon. Link your Dunkin bonus account and get an extra 10 cents. Dine at your favorite restaurant as part of the rewards program and earn 10 cents per gallon. Gold status in conjunction with these savings will save you 30 cents per gallon the next time you fill up your car.

To save money on fuel, you can use Circle K Easy Pay, a program that saves 30 cents per gallon for 60 days or the first 100 gallons. Depending on location, you can save anywhere from 6 to 10 cents per gallon. The Easy Pay card must be linked to a checking account and used to pay for gasoline. Savings are automatically deducted. The cards are PIN-protected and are blocked if 3 failed attempts are made to log in.

Pay with GasBuddy. Pay with GasBuddy is a program that is rapidly improving and evolving. It used to include Shop Your Way points, but now offers several tiers of money savings when you fill up your car. Some offers are available at certain stations right before you pay for fuel, and at the same time you can use the “gasoline rebate” shopping portal in the app. You pay with a physical card that GasBuddy ties to your current account. The amount you fill up, minus the GasBuddy savings, is deducted from your account. By becoming a Pay with GasBuddy member, you’ll save more per gallon and get additional perks like roadside assistance.
