Google could be fined up to $310 million

The fine against Google could be up to $310 million. The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media of Russia intends to levy turnover fines against the company for repeated failure to remove prohibited information. According to the deputy head of the agency Vadim Subbotin, we can talk about the share of the fine from 1/20 to 1/10 of the annual revenue, but the decision on the amount will be made by the court.

According to the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media of Russia, Google revenue in Russia in 2020 was about $3.1 billion, including software sales and advertising revenue, for all subsidiaries of Google LLC, including Google Rus LLC. Thus, the fine could range from $197 million to $310 million (depending on the accounting of Google Rus LLC revenue).
