General Dynamics will produce new Abrams tanks for Kiev

General Dynamics will start producing new Abrams tanks for Ukraine. The Financial Times reported this on Sunday.

The company’s plant in Lima, Ohio, produces about 12 tanks per month. At the moment, General Dynamics is waiting for instructions on whether it should give priority to Ukraine over other orders.

The Abrams tanks promised to Kiev are difficult to maintain and require significant logistical support due to their high fuel consumption.

Earlier, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, despite the decision to provide Kiev with 31 M1 Abrams tanks, expressed the opinion that it would be difficult for the Ukrainian side to maintain their combat efficiency. According to the US media, the new Abrams tanks will probably arrive in Ukraine not before the end of 2023.
