Found a way to detect "omicron" without tests
Dr. Catherine Poling, an infectious disease specialist, member of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and a vaccinologist at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in North Carolina, listed the main symptoms of the Omicron strain on NBC News.
According to Dr. Poling, these are the signs that patients can tell exactly what they have contracted. “Coughing, stuffy nose, runny nose and fatigue seem to be characteristic symptoms of the omicron variant. However, unlike the delta strain, many patients do not lose their taste or sense of smell. Even with mild breakthrough infections, sore throat remains the most common symptom,” said Poling.
She added that the researchers came to these conclusions from observing patients. The listed signs do not occur in all populations, but may help in the so-called self-test for coronavirus, which the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has approved.
