Donald Trump says the lawsuit against him is being led by Biden’s team

Donald Trump is convinced that current U.S. leader Joe Biden and his team are at the helm of the Trump Organization’s financial forgery lawsuit over the payment of money to former porn actress Stormy Daniels.

“Biden is not just involved in the lawsuit, he is actually leading it,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social social media page. He added that by Biden, he means his team, “as Biden’s mental capacity does not allow him to lead anything.”

Trump is in person at a New York court today. About an hour ago, the first day of jury deliberations to decide how many of the 34 counts the former president is guilty of. The jury dispersed after about four and a half hours of deliberations without reaching a verdict. They will continue to try the case on May 30.

The court in New York has been hearing the case of falsifying business records against Trump for more than a month. The reason for the investigation against the former US President was the publication of The Wall Street Journal in January 2018. According to its data, a month before the Republican won the presidential election in 2016, his lawyer Michael Cohen paid Daniels $130 thousand so that she did not spread information about the connection with Trump about 10 years ago.

In 2018, Cohen went on trial on several charges, one of which involved Trump’s campaign finance violations, specifically the payments to Daniels. At the time, prosecutors did not pursue charges against Trump, citing immunity for the head of state. However, in November 2022, the Manhattan District Attorney’s office launched a new investigation. According to the investigation, Trump reimbursed his lawyer for the money spent, formalizing it through the Trump Organization as a payment for legal fees, citing a non-existent legal advance. On April 4, 2023, a court in New York filed charges against Trump over the Daniels payments. Trump thus became the first ex-president in US history to be charged with a crime.
