Discovery wants to make new Harry Potter movies with Rowling's consent

Warner Bros. Discovery David Zaslav told investors that he aims to release more Harry Potter films if British author Joan Rowling agrees.

“We haven’t made a Harry Potter movie in 15 years. The DC movies and the Harry Potter movies have made a lot of profits for Warner Bros. over the last 25 years,” Zaslav said. The company executive notes that this is only possible with Rowling’s consent, the magazine reported.

Seven novels about Harry Potter, published from 1997 to 2007, brought the writer Joanne Rowling world fame. The total circulation of the books, published in more than 80 languages, exceeds 500 million copies. Eight blockbusters were made based on these works. The first of the Potteriana films premiered in the fall of 2001.
