China's TCL has developed AR glasses that translate speech in real time
Chinese company TCL Corp., specializing in the production of low-cost televisions and other consumer electronics, has decided to try its hand in the field of virtual and augmented reality. The result of the work of its engineers became smart AR-glasses RayNeo X2 with the function of an online translator, presented at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
From conventional glasses X2 distinguishes uncharacteristically large size, which is understandable – it was necessary somewhere to place the electronic stuffing, running on a platform Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2. Directly in the lenses are MicroLED displays, with which users with low vision can “sharpen”.
By pressing on the right arm of the glasses, the user can navigate through the X2 menu and activate the translation function. And it is not just a translation, but also an online decoding of the words of the interlocutor.
And nevertheless, as the first test persons of the novelty assert, its undoubted technological advantages could look more attractive, if not the clumsy dimensions of X2. So TCL engineers and designers will have to work hard to make their child look more “marketable”.
