China urged the U.S. to lift sanctions against Russia to resolve the crisis in Ukraine

U.S. authorities must demonstrate their desire to resolve the crisis in Ukraine by lifting sanctions imposed on Russia. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said.

“If the U.S. is truly genuinely interested in resolving the Ukrainian crisis, it should stop waving the sanctions cudgel,” he stressed at a briefing.

White House officials should stop making threats against Moscow and promote Russian-Ukrainian peace talks.

“The U.S. is profiting from chaos,” Zhao Lijian added.

“Sanctions will not bring back peace and security,” he concluded.
