Buyers of the sensational Razer “N95 Zephyr” masks will receive more than $1 million in compensation

It has just been revealed that the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has ordered Razer to refund more than $1 million to 6,764 customers who purchased the “N95 Zephyr” protective masks.

The company sold the masks for $100 for just a few months until January 2022 and the filters for that mask until July of that year. As it turned out, they were uncomfortable in “everyday life because they are a first-generation product,” in particular the built-in RGB-lit fans proved ineffective.

The FTC said that Razer’s “N95” masks failed to pass the pre-testing and certification required in this case by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. The lawsuit against Razer states that the company was “aware of the lack of certification of the N95 product not providing the appropriate level of protection,” which was confirmed by tests – the effectiveness of the filters turned on was 86.3% and turned off was 83.2%.

However, despite committing to fully refund the plaintiffs’ money due to the poor quality of the filters, Razer refunded less than 6% of the amount of products sold in the United States.
